“Good Friends are like stars, You don’t always see them but they’re always there.”

Back-Left to front-right. Ben, Mitchell, Rob, our neighbor Hilary and myself.

So, if you don’t know us personally, you don’t know that Mitchell’s best friend(s) live in Illinois. We have been trying and hoping to send him to visit, but just haven’t had the funds. So a couple weeks ago when they asked Mitchell if they could come for Labor Day weekend, we immediately said YES!

They flew in Thursday evening, and we picked them up at the airport around 11pm. First thing we decided to do was to take them to Kerry Park. After showing them the view of our beautiful city from Kerry Park, we took them to Dicks Drive-in to experience the best $2 burgers in all of the PNW. After Dick’s we drove by the space-needle and then headed home. We stayed up, chatted a bit then went to bed around 3am. I had to get a hair-cut and meet some friends Friday morning, but then I met-up with the boys around noon and we headed into Seattle. We found the most random yet adorable little Mexican restaurant for lunch, called Nana’s. After lunch, we went to the Seattle Public Library to explore followed by Uwajimaya to buy ALL the snacks, and then to the fremont Troll. Then we headed home. Once we were home we hung out, ate random snacks and caught up. We laughed more than I have ever laughed in my life. We played Mario Kart and went to bed sometime around 2 or 3 am.

Saturday we went back into Seattle to ride the Great wheel, visit Pike Place Market, and the waterfront. We ate lunch at Ivars, after visiting the Ye Old Curiousity Shop and buying random “gift” grab bags. We opened our gifts during lunch and laughed over what we got. After lunch we headed back home. We returned here to catch up and play more games. We spent a huge portion of the afternoon (into the wee hours of the morning) playing Mario party, and racing 32 races in Mario Kart. I would just like to state here, that when playing Mario Kart, Rob and I are very competitive, and resort to tons of name calling. Hussie, is by far the best ever.

Yesterday (Sunday) we slept in a little, hung out and went to a local Thai place for lunch, and visited the Bellevue Uwajimaya. We bought MORE snacks, sushi and came back here to hang out more. We introduced them to Quelf, and played CAH. Eventually we played a little Mario Kart and went to bed. This morning at dark and early we took them to the airport and said our very sad goodbyes. I’m very sad they’re gone, as is Mitchell (and even Kitten!) I think we had the best weekend ever, and everyone is sad we all live so far away from one another. Maybe one day we can get them to move here, but until then, we’ll have to keep in touch and video chat often. I cannot say this enough, but they are the greatest and kindest (and funniest) people I’ve ever met. We are so happy they came and so lucky to know them!

If by some (random) reason you’re reading this Rob, Thank you to both you and Ben for coming, we REALLY did have a blast and cannot wait to see you two again!

  1. I love the idea of grab bags that you can buy. If I ever start a business, I’m totally going to sell something like that. So glad you had a great time!
