Sephora Play!

Are you ready for this month’s Sephora, PLAY! subscription? Here’s what I got! I’ve put descriptions of each photo in the captions of the photos, because I’m short on time today. I promise a better post next month!

Opening the box!

This month’s bag!

A photo of all the items

TARTE TARTEGUARD 30 SPF SUNSCREEN: You can never be too careful!

BECCA BACKLIGHT PRIMING FILTER: I don’t use primers, but I’m interested to see how it works for me!

TOCCA BEAUTY FLORENCE: I’m disappointed in the size of the purfume samples, as you can get these free inside any Sephora…

BAREMINERALS bareSkin bronzer: I’m not a bronzer type person, but the paper that came with the box has me intrigued and I will be trying it this time!

Bumble and Bumble don’t blow it: SUPER excited to try this – as It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for, in regards to my hair!

“With so little sleep at least you’d think I’d find some peace in my dreams in my dreams; but my mind still winds up on the same thing, the same scene, the same themes”

I definitely think I’ve used this song as a title before. Oh well. We’ll all survive 😀

Things are still incredibly busy but I love it. This last week our friends Lauren, Gene and Sidney came to visit. They were here for about 24 hours, so though the visit was short it was a lot of fun. We played games, went for a couple walks and hung out. We took them to MOX Boarding House  for dinner. We played SuperFight! and enjoyed some time with good company.

Once we came back, we played Sushi Go, Exploding Kittens, and Coup. We also re-introduced Gene to the Lion King on my Super Nintendo. He and Sidney played it for a while, and we all went to bed.

The next day, we went for a walk down to the local pastry shop, Belle Pastry. After breakfast we walked home, played some more games (Sidney and Gene played WiiU, and Lauren and I played Sushi Go.) Then we went to Uwajimaya and for a walk at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens. Once we returned home it was time for them to pack up and head up north to visit their friend Elisabeth.

I am so glad they were able to join us for the short time they were here. I wish it were longer, but now its our turn to visit them! I hope that one day this year we’ll be able to fly to Denver and spend a couple days with them. You forget how wonderful people are when you only get to video chat with them once a month.

Then, the next day, we had our friends Tim and Caroline over for a game night. We played Coup, and Sushi Go with them. Caroline had to leave early but we also played RhinoHero and Love Letter.

Mitchell and I also played a round of Card Wars this week.

“Finally I know now what it takes It takes money and airplanes”

Photo taken by me, but was Mitchell’s vision. Friday Harbor October 2010. I’ll include a photo below showing how we captured this moment.

I’m back! Sorta? I didn’t actually go anywhere. So can you be “back” if you never actually left? Either way, here I am! 2016 has been incredibly busy for us. Many many changes!

Here is the photo of me taking the above image.

There hasn’t been a whole lot of downtime for me this year, and though I kinda enjoy being busy (who am I kidding, I love it) It’s nice to have a day of nothing with Mitchell.

This year I made my very first blanket! I made it for someone who is a huge fan of the Seattle Super Sonics. I have to say, though it isn’t perfect, I think the project turned out really well, and the person we gave it to loved it! I’ve discovered sewing is really quite relaxing and it has helped me get through a few rather stressful weeks. I also made handmade catnip treats!

We’ve also been able to play several new board games the past few months. If you didn’t know, I looooove playing board games.

Forbidden Island

A few (several actually) months back my friend Lauren sent me a care package. Inside the care package was a copy of Forbidden Island. We loved it so much and played it any chance we got. Then, this last Christmas Mitchell got a copy of Forbidden Dessert. It is just as much fun as Forbidden Island, but slightly more complicated which is great!

Forbidden Desert

Another game Mitchell got for Christmas was Exploding Kittens. We actually had a friend come over a few months back and introduced us to the game. I had heard of it online but we had never had a chance to play it. That’s another super fun game. We also recently got to play one of my favorite games, Munchkin!

There is a place near by, that lets us play games for free. So a few others we’ve been able to play are:

Sky Tango
Patchwork (I enjoyed this one. Mitchell did not.)
Ticket to Ride Europe (I had heard of this one, and always wanted to play it.)
Betrayal at House on the Hill (Our friend introduced us to this, and I LOVED it!)
Coup (Same friend introduced this one to us too, and I enjoyed it a lot!)

There have been several others, but I can’t seem to remember them at the moment.

If you have any questions or would like to suggest a game for us to play, just let me know!

“Good Friends are like stars, You don’t always see them but they’re always there.”

Back-Left to front-right. Ben, Mitchell, Rob, our neighbor Hilary and myself.

So, if you don’t know us personally, you don’t know that Mitchell’s best friend(s) live in Illinois. We have been trying and hoping to send him to visit, but just haven’t had the funds. So a couple weeks ago when they asked Mitchell if they could come for Labor Day weekend, we immediately said YES!

Chick-Fil-A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Do I have enough exclamation points?)

If you’ve known me for any amount of time, or if you’ve followed me on social media, or here on this blog, you’ll know I have a love for all things Chick-Fil-A.

Visit to the (former) Chick-Fil-A at WWU in Bellingham. 2010?

For those of you that don’t know, I’ll fill you in. Growing up (in the Portland, Oregon area.) a family that went to our church owned two (yes, two wonderful) chick-fil-a locations in the local malls. Growing up I always loved Chick-Fil-A. We went there often (well in my little kid eyes, it was often, reality was probably once a month? at most? I actually have NO idea, but in my memory we were there often.)

Visit to Chick-Fil-A in Georgia with my high school bff, Allyson. October 2008.

So as you can imagine, I grew up not knowing a world without chick-fil-a. I just LOVED their chicken nuggets, waffle fries and lemonade. Other members of my family loved their cheese-cake, and other items off their menu.

Another visit to the Chick-Fil-A in Bellingham. 2011? 2009? who knows. haha.

My older sister, Shannon, worked at one of the chick-fil-a locations while she was a teen. Just one of the many memories I have at Chick-Fil-A was one afternoon. My mom and I had just gotten home from taking her cat to the vet. I was 7 or 8 maybe? I don’t know it was summer and it was close to my Birthday. I bent down just outside our bathroom to pet the stupid cat. She reached up and bit my lip. I remember it hurting, and blood being E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. Cutting out a few minor details, my mom rushed me to the ER, and they gave me 2 stitches. I still have a scar on my bottom lip where she bit me.

Visit to Chick-Fil-A in Hamilton, NJ the week Lou Passed away. 2009.

I can’t remember EXACTLY what happened next (pain meds or something most likely clouded my memory…or just the pure adrenaline.) We had to pick up my sister from work maybe? Probably, I be thats it. Anyway we found ourselves at the Clackamas Chick-Fil-A. Sitting in a booth, I remember laying down a LOT. Mom asked me what I wanted, my sister tried to talk me into the cheese cake, but no, I wanted my chicken nuggets.

Visit to Chick-Fil-A in NJ 2006?

Sometime in the late 90’s one of the Oregon Chick-Fil-A locations closed. They were both located in local malls, and Because Chick-Fil-A isn’t open on Sundays the mall decided they either needed to change their policy and remain open 7 days a week, or find a new location. The family ended up closing one of the locations… and only a few years later, the same thing happened to the second location. By the time I was in high school they were both closed and I was heartbroken.

As I’m sure you can tell from the photos above, ANY chance I get to visit Chick-Fil-A I take it. Not only that, but I’ve taken many a photo to document it! When we went to NJ for Lou’s funeral, I bought a BUNCH of nuggets and fries, froze them in my Aunt’s freezer and brought them back on the plain for Mitchell to try. We re-heated them and DEVOURED them.

Today’s Chick-Fil-A breakfast!

I’ve had so many crazy Chick-Fil-A cravings that I’ve tried EVERY recipe under the sun. Only ONE comes close but isn’t the same by any means.

Today’s Chick-Fil-A Breakfast.

You can imagine my excitement when Last summer, the City of Bellevue and Chick-Fil-A made an announcement that Spring 2015 Chick-Fil-A would open a location RIGHT DOWN THE STREET from my home!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s Chick-Fil-A Breakfast.

I counted down the months, weeks, days, hours, and minutes until the grand opening. Beyond excited I didn’t even sleep last night. Woke up early this morning, and got my Chick-Fil-A breakfast fix! I bet you can figure out where Mitchell and I are going for dinner tonight 😀

Today’s Chick-Fil-A Breakfast.

He’s never ever had fresh Chick-Fil-A, and I’m so excited to share this experience with him!

Today’s Chick-Fil-A Breakfast.

The new location, is beautiful and EVERY single employee is incredibly wonderful. I am so happy to welcome them back to the PNW, and am very excited for the other two WA branches and the potential 2 Oregon locations!

I have a Chick-Fil-A related confession to make…. I’ve been writing them one email every year for the last 5 (yes 5!) years. Every single year they wrote me back (even last year) telling me there were NO plans for Chick-Fil-A to expand to the PNW. IT’S ABOUT TIME! WELCOME BACK, delicious food!

Salmon Dinner

Part of my adventure to Costco last week was buying Salmon. Mitchell and I both LOVE salmon and hardly ever eat it… so we had talked about buying some for dinners, and I knew my boss always buys the frozen plain salmon each week… so I thought if they like it, it must be pretty tasty! It is! Mitchell marinated it in some marinade I picked up and baked it in the oven. We added some steamed green beans and quinoa (that I paid way too much money for, but it was pre-made and from PCC…) This dinner was so incredibly tasty, and next time I’ll probably make my own quinoa salad-ish thing. Pinterest is loaded with them, I just have to find the right one for us. I’m really bad at sticking to one photo a day by the way… so yet again you get 2 photos.
