APRIL IPSY

My April ipsy showed up today! So here is the post I promised after getting my Julep Maven box.

So today my April ipsy bag came… I knew what was going to be in it ahead of time because they give you a sneak peak. Before I go into my personal opinion/thoughts on the bag, heres a photo of everything together.

Starting with the Jor’el Parker Femina perfume. It smells nice, it isn’t by any means a bad smell… but it does have a hint of “old lady” to it… which is a little off-putting… but I could totally (and probably will) wear it to the next fancy outing we have.

Next up, Hey Honey. I am MOST excited about this. I am really faithful to my MaryKay lotion but I love products made with honey/beeswax. (Hello Burts Bees!) So I’m really excited to see how this works for my skin!

IMG_7429

Next up is Hikari blush. I do not, have not and probably will not ever use blush. If you’ve ever seen any photos of me, I have naturally rosy cheeks… always have. I was going to trade it with someone online — but the box came with this nasty residue on it so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do that.

Next is the Nude Dude eyeshadow – Fit. I have so many brown eye shadows, I know I typically were natural looking make-up… but the reason I signed up for ipsy was to step outside my comfort zone… but I won’t complain over a new shadow 😀

Finally is the lip gloss. I’m not sure how I feel about this particular color, but I’m curious to try it and see how it works. Mitchell said he liked it, but we’ll see how it looks on me, hopefully I’ll remember and I can post a photo whenever that happens. 😀

Julep Maven, First box. (April 2015)

In my last post, I talked about my Julep Maven, Spring Welcome box. Well this past Friday (I’m a bit behind, oh well.) I got my first actual monthly box!! So I thought I’d share it here too.

One thing I noticed after getting my Spring Welcome Box, was that one of the polishes was REALLY thick, and did NOT stick to my nails no matter what I tried. I bought a base coat, a top coat, you name it I tried it… Not really but everything I could think of. I ended up asking some of my social media followers/friends for help. One (super wonderful girl) that I’ve know for many years suggested I buy a specific type of base coat. So I did and it was like magic. No more problems with the polish being too thick and not staying on!

On with my April box!

And the box is open!

IMG_7088

I just love the way they put their boxes together, so fun and cute, and oh hey look! CANDY!

IMG_7089

Here is a close up of the colors, aren’t they fun and beautiful?! This particular box was the April “it girl” box, which includes 3 polishes. The colors are Danielle (blue) and Randi (pink).

This bonding base coat came right after I purchased one at the local drugstore (Bartell’s for those wondering.) I am relieved to have a second bottle though, because they are expensive! I used this already, and it is just perfect. So my main suggestion for people looking into using Julep polishes, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BONDING base coat!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. It is definitely needed. Worth every penny.

Below, is a (quick) sample of the colors on my nails. I am head over heels in love with both of them, but especially the blue! I cannot wait to wear it over the summer!

All in all, I’m incredibly impressed with Julep and the quality of their polishes. I’ve switched my box style for next month, but 3 polishes for $24.99 is a good deal in my honest opinion. Next month I’ll be getting one full sized make-up item and two polishes. I look forward to sharing those with you too!

Up next, ipsy April 2015! (Once I get it in the mail, I’ll try and update this to link to it!)

This blog is in no way affiliated or supported by Julep, I am not paid to write anything, and I do not get any rewards either. Everything is my honest and truthful opinion.

Julep Maven. Spring Welcome Box.

IMG_6618

This past christmas, my sister (for all intents and purposes) came to our annual murder mystery party. She came early and helped us prep. A few minutes beforehand we all got dressed and ready for the party. While she was getting ready she pulled out a TON of make-up and such. She mentioned that she had subscribed to ipsy. Told me how much she loved it and that I should try it.

Over the past few years, Mitchell’s family has given me several Julep nail polishes (they know someone who works at julep, so they’re huge fans.) I’ve enjoyed my polishes they’ve given me, but a lot of them were seasonal or small enough they won’t last very long.

IMG_6619

So this past month, I cancelled a few monthly subscriptions and freed up some extra funds. For Christmas one of my friends paid for my first month of ipsy and another paid for my first Maven subscription. So I’m officially a subscriber of Julep and ipsy.

I got my first ipsy a couple weeks ago, and have already opened and used everything so I’m not going to talk about that… but I got my Julep welcome box yesterday so I thought I’d share it! It’s pretty cute, and I’m really excited to try the colors!

One thing I’m a little worried about, is if/when the time comes to cancel Maven… I hear its awful, and many times Julep doesn’t cancel, and will continually charge your card after you’ve called and cancelled on several occasions… but I’ll deal (and gladly blog) about that later. For now, I’m oooohhh-ing and awwww-ing over the new polishes and lipgloss I got!

In the bottle the lip gloss looks like it’ll be too pink… but it’s actually PERFECT. It’s very light and I’m quite pleased with it!

All in all I’m really looking forward to April’s Maven box :).

Catch up…

IMG_6188_2

Last Thursday, I video chatted with my dear friend, Lauren. It’s always so nice to catch up with her and see how things are doing. I truly do miss having her nearby, but it’s wonderful that thanks to technology I can see and talk to her whenever we want. After we had our “google hangout” Mitchell, kitten and I hung out on the couch for a little while and watched some Netflix.

Friday, I took the youngest I nanny, the stuffed turtle she stole from my car (His/her name is Purple Purple…you can see him bottom rightish.) out for breakfast. She wasn’t feeling so hot so shortly after this photo she went from smiley to grumpy… which changed as soon as she heard the words “going to target.” She loves that place as much as any other female haha.

IMG_6207

Friday evening, we went over to our friend Tim’s house, for games and dinner. Mitchell and I stopped at Uwajimaya beforehand and picked up some of our favorite snacks. We had a fun time and played some fun games!

IMG_6220

Saturday I went out to coffee with some ladies I met through a facebook group… we meet up once a month and catch up. It was really nice, afterwards I went to Bellevue Square Mall with one of them, we walked around, met her husband and daughter for lunch and talked some more, they are such a cute little family, and I really enjoyed talking with their 2 year old daughter. After I came home and hung out on the couch with my Kitten. Here she is above being all sorts of adorable.

IMG_6229Yesterday (Sunday) we went to Alki with Mitchell’s sister, her boyfriend and their 3 dogs. It was such a warm and beautiful day, we sat on the beach, walked around for a while looked at the sea-life, and then went back to their place for some delicious fish tacos! It was such a wonderful way to spend our sunday and end the weekend, I didn’t even dread today as much as I normally do 🙂

I’ll post tonight’s photo with tomorrow’s because it’s late and I need go go to bed! I hope it’s sunny again tomorrow though, because I love going for walks with the kids!

Flowers on this sunny Tuesday.

Today was such a beautiful day. The youngest I nanny and I spent a fair amount of time enjoying the sun. She also educated me on the inner workings of our solar system and all things space. Her favorite thing is the “milk shower” (Milky way) and she informed me that that is where you go if your thirsty.

Today’s photo(s) are of the flowers I bought at Trader Joe’s. I actually took two bouquets that I combined, and made into one — I did end up tossing some of the flowers… but overall I like the way it turned out. I also just found out that my florist finally has a new storefront! I’m so excited to stop in and have them make my next bouquet! If you’re in the Bellevue area you just HAVE to stop in and see Flowers for the People at Masin’s showroom.

Onto the photos!

Another Salmon dinner :) my tummy is happy!

Look! I’m back on track! Posting today’s photo TODAY! I am very proud of myself! I you should be too ;P. Kidding. A little.

IMG_6099_2

So for tonight’s salmon dinner, we marinated it in the lemon pepper marinade from Webber. We added lemon juice per the recipe (last time we added water but it was a different marinade.) It turned out super amazing. To go along side I made homemade cole-slaw, and we made a package of trader joe’s frozen Quinoa.  We tossed in a pinch of lemon juice to the Quinoa to help give it a little more flavor. I had a glass of my favorite Rosa Regale Sparkling Italian Wine. Overall I’d have to say this is a pretty good way to end a Monday. I hope everyone else enjoyed their monday too!
